We’ve heard it a thousand times: Movement is medicine
“Movement is medicine.”
It’s a phrase we’ve all heard.
So many times that it’s easy to tune it out.
Still—it’s true.
In recent weeks it’s been said again:
exercise helps your mood, and even a single moment of movement can shift the direction of your day.
Research keeps showing the same thing:
the benefits come from surprisingly small amounts of movement, sometimes in just a few weeks.
You don’t really need a study to understand that, though.
I’ve had the chance to work in this field for over 20 years.
With toddlers and seniors.
And I’ve never once heard anyone say:
“I should have skipped moving.”
What I hear instead is this:
“I’m glad I went.”
⸻
And yet—getting started is often the hardest part.
Not because people don’t know movement is good.
But because the alternative is so easy.
Phone in hand.
Couch underneath.
A moment to yourself.
And there’s nothing wrong with that.
But when it becomes the default,
the hours start to add up without noticing.
And something else quietly gets less space.
⸻
I understand why “just go move” can feel irritating.
It sounds simple.
Sometimes too simple.
Because reality isn’t.
Especially now, when our attention is constantly being competed for—
and often lost without us even realizing it.
⸻
That’s why I don’t believe in forcing it.
Or banning things.
At least not in the long run.
I’ve worked with teenagers for years,
and if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this:
they’ll always find a way around restrictions.
Usually fast.
But when they realize something on their own—
that’s when change actually starts.
⸻
Nudgess was built from that idea.
Not from restriction.
Not from control.
But from the thought that movement could be a key—
not a punishment.
A small step.
Leading to the next.
And before you notice,
you feel a little better already.
