Could the tail wag the dog?
Could the phone, instead of reducing movement, actually create it? That’s where the idea for Nudgess began.
During Christmas 2024, while I was outside clearing snow, the final decision clicked into place—yes, this has to be built.
We’re living in a time where the phone increasingly defines how we spend our time.
It quietly pulls us toward passivity, affecting sleep, focus, and mood.
I see it in my work every day.
Young people are tired.
Their attention slips quickly.
Even the smallest break is automatically filled with a screen.
And this isn’t about “bad habits” or a lack of awareness.
Quite the opposite.
Many of them say it directly: they spend too much time on their phones—but managing it is difficult.
At the same time, daily usage can reach 8–11 hours.
This isn’t individual weakness.
It’s an environment designed to work this way.
That’s why this phenomenon is being studied across the world more than ever.
The growing body of research points to one thing:
we’re starting to wake up to it—collectively.
And it’s not just about young people.
We as adults are in the same situation.
Schools are expected to do a lot, but this isn’t something they can solve alone.
If we don’t change direction together, there’s a real risk that young people lose something essential—
movement, the ability to focus, maybe even part of their future opportunities.
⸻
But what if we changed the narrative?
I’m not denying the problem—I’m genuinely concerned about it.
But instead of pointing fingers in the same direction and stopping there,
what if we shifted the story?
Could we repair at least part of the damage already done—
and more importantly, prevent what’s coming next?
⸻
I believe we can.
And at least, I’m going to try.
In the end, Nudgess is a very simple idea:
movement creates time.
The phone isn’t the enemy.
It can be part of the solution.
When movement starts to guide usage,
our relationship with the screen changes.
A small shift can lead to surprisingly wide effects—
for physical, mental, and social well-being.
At the level of individuals, and beyond.
⸻
Shall we do this together?
Let’s rewrite the story.
